Illustrative example of a modular X2000NC setup with servo-driven presses of various sizes as a press line for the cold forming of wire. This setup with servo-driven presses from 240 kN to 7,000 kN can take the place of a single large press with a progressive die. Our press line with synchronised servo transfer is compact, fast and affordable. Unlike large presses from other manufacturers, our line does not need its own press pit.

We design and build presses and press lines as components in fully automated systems for metal forming. Our presses are typically constructed as servo-electric presses and hydraulic presses. The presses can be mounted onto a back wall as standalone presses or part of a press line and are used to manufacture punched and bent parts. High-quality punching and bending machines require totally reliable components with a long service life. The press must be robust, reliable and powerful, while offering plenty of options for positioning. Depending on the manufacturing application and bending machine, our systems are made up of several presses plus different kinds of servo-driven presses – which can be categorised as upsetting presses, punching presses and press lines. With an arrangement of multiple presses on one back wall, combined with our synchronised, servo-electric transfer, individual presses can then be integrated into press lines. These presses can be tasked with handling different kinds of forming processes and offer an alternative to large presses with progressive dies.
Sensors are installed in many punching and bending machines to monitor the correct operation of the presses. In our systems, the presses can also be combined into integrated press production lines. Press forces of up to 700 tonnes or 7,000 kN can be generated by our servo-electric presses for cold or hot forming. The size of the die fitting space is variable in these setups – as is the travel distance and stroke. Thanks to pedestal bases, changeover times for tool inserts are significantly reduced. As a result, various progressive dies can be utilised in our presses.
Alongside the rated forming force and the maximum stroke, compatibility with a wide range of tools is an important factor for presses. The greater the variety of tools that a press can accept, the broader the spectrum of products that the press is then able to manufacture. Stamping and bending machines from Schmale offer the option of mounting the presses at any position on the back wall. This means that the various presses can be combined exactly as required for the manufacture of a product in an individual, customer-specific layout or sequence. The press can also be positioned at various angles on the back wall if necessary. This has the advantage of completely avoiding jamming, chafing and slippage during the production process. The press is stopped from slipping on the wall itself with machine keys. If necessary, adapters can be screwed between the press and tools. This also ensures that the required press position can be identified again more quickly. When installing and commissioning a newly mounted press, always read and follow the safety and installation instructions for the respective stamping/punching machine.
